Privacy policy
Last updated: August 2026
SplitFlow only asks for what it needs to split a bill and settle up. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
1. Information we collect
We collect your name and email address when you sign in (via email/password, Google, or Apple), and a profile photo if you choose to set one. We also store the group, expense, and settlement data you and your group members enter — group names, expense descriptions, amounts, currencies, split details, and who paid what.
2. How we use your data
Your account and expense data is used to calculate balances and show shared expense history within your groups — that's the entire purpose of the app. If you enable notifications, we use your device's push token to send balance reminders and group activity alerts. We never sell your personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.
3. Data storage & security
Data is encrypted in transit. Your account and group data is stored with Convex, our backend and database provider, and access is restricted to what the app itself needs to function.
4. Shared within your groups
Expenses, balances, and settlements you record in a shared group are visible to everyone in that group — the same way a shared paper ledger would be. This is core to how splitting expenses works, not optional data sharing.
5. Third-party services
We use Clerk for authentication (sign-in and account credentials) and Convex for backend storage. If you enable push notifications, delivery goes through Expo's push notification service. None of these providers receive more than what's needed to perform their role.
6. On-device features
If you turn on app-lock (biometric or PIN unlock), that check happens entirely on your device through your phone's own operating system. SplitFlow never receives or stores your fingerprint, face data, or device passcode.
7. Your rights & account deletion
You can delete your account instantly at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the app. If you no longer have access to the app, you can request deletion from our account deletion page below. Deleting your account removes your profile and sign-in access — expenses you already recorded remain visible within groups you were part of, so other members' balance history stays accurate.
8. Children's privacy
SplitFlow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the date below and, where required, notify you in-app.
10. Contact us
Questions about this policy or your data — including data-deletion requests — can be sent to us directly.
